VoodooTV Remote Control Help
06.03.04 at 10:50:49

I bought an old VoodooTV FM (VoodooTV 200 in America?) off a mate, primarily because I remember he used to control the Visual Reality program on his remote control, and could open media files... so basically I was mostly interested in the remote control.

I fit the card and find it barely work under XP... but I look up on this, and get some new Drivers that work under XP ('Conexant btPCI WDM', for the chipset as opposed to the card specifically), and because the Visual Reality program will not work under XP, I found an excellent program called DScaler instead. And all was working fine, I could watch TV, I could capture, perfect.

But one problem - Could not use the remote control. I don't know if Visual Reality was the only program that could use the remote control, but I have yet to find any other prgram that utilizes it. Does anyone know of any program that would use my remote control for the playback of media files? Or any other eay I could make my computer use it?
I could go back to the only official 3DFX Driver set that works under XP should that be needed for the remote.

Any help is appriciated.

Well I have the VoodoTV 200. I bought just the card, so I am unsure if it was suppsosed to come with a remote. Anyway, I went on ebay and bought a cheap IR remote; Dirt cheap on ebay.

The software that came with the remote is application specific, i.e. it works for winamp and stuff, but you cannot program other apps. So I had to go hunting for software.
I came across this site, maybe the only piece of software I've ever paid for  Grin - $15 last time I checked.
And I reprogramed the remote for Dscaler and I've been using it ever since; ~2years now
It's a really good program

Hope this helps  Smiley

Thanks for the help Smiley

I didn't know VoodooTV 200's didn't come with a remote... that is a shame because it is a high quality remote Smiley  But I fear it will only work in Visual Reality...  and I've yet to make that work in XP... (don't you need a 3DFX Graphics card for that too?  Mines a Radeon 8500 bios-modded up to a Radeon 9100...)

To be honest, if I was gonna buy anything new, I'd probably try and find the smallest cordless keyboard I could find as opposed to a remote, so I could use it for other stuff too... I just wanted to make use of the remote I already had.

You think if I stuck my old Voodoo4 4500 PCI in as a secondary card, Visual Reality might work?

I'm not too sure about secondary video cards, but VR does work in XP with a 3dfx card. I ran it for some time with my Voodoo 5 5500 AGP. AS soon as I upgraded, it stopped playing video; it would just freeze/lock up, though there would still be sound. But experiment with it, that's the only real way you're going to find out.

I received a VoodooTV 200 boxed and new some days ago now and surprise : no remote inside ; seems to be a "great" difference with the VoodooTV FM (european version) or perhaps VoodooTV's 200 with remote can exist also ?.

@Lecram25
I'm sure that will help ALL the users  Smiley

Unfortunately, the Voodoo TV 200 did not come with the remote, and like you guys have pointed out, the Voodoo TV FM came with a remote.

I hope this helps people  Smiley
