Title: New here with VooDoo 4
Post by redfonzie21 on 18.09.03 at 20:00:52
Hi. I am new here, and I have a few questions. I got a Voodoo 4 from a friend for my secondary system. It's an Athlon 600 MHz on a GA7IXE BIOS Rev. F12 (I think) and 512megs RAM with a 60GB HD, running Win98SE, 2000Pro, XP Pro, and Linux Mandrake 8.2. I'm not so worried about Linux drivers, but for the M$ os'es, what drivers should I get that will give me the absolute best performance for games and what can I and can I not run these days?

I have a number of games, Red Faction and RFII, Wolf 3d, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, TribesII, Jedi Outcast, UT Classic, UT03, Mechwarrior 3 (uh... yeah) amongst other things. I really have not been a very "serious" gamer for some time, but as it's going to be somewhat chilly this winter - I'm guessing - I may be spending more time downstairs than I usually do.

Oh, and some help from someone would also be appreciated... can I set this up to make replies and new threads and stuff go to my inbox at yahoo or do I have to actually come back here to read and post?

Many, Many thanks for help and otherwise.

Zach

Can't speak for all of the Games you mentioned, but the latest AmigaMerlin Drivers should do.

Still, due to the number of Games, you might have to test which Driver gives the best, blended performance over all of them for your configuration.

That is right. No driver will probably bring you the best of all those games, some do better, some do worse, but as long as you are having fun and the problems are not too big, everything should be just fine.

Cool... thanks for the replies. I think that, due to time constraints, I'll just make do with what I've got - at least for the XP / 2kPro partitions. I still need to get the 98SE drivers installed, but I figure that if I can at least do Red Faction ok, I should be happy. I may be selling the computer it's in anyway, so things will work out one way or the other.

Thanks again for the replies.

Zach
