There is no V5 6000 being sold.
What's being sold is the metal 3dfx cut-out.

??? The string "ASLM56256" states a NVidia Geforce FX 5600 with 256 MB, I think the seller sticked the sticker from that card on the shown Voodoo 3 3000 PCI.
I am almost hundred per cent sure it is not a 3dfx-card with 256 MB RAM.

Title: Re: 3dfx Related eBay Auctions

It's DEFINATELY a V3 card - standard RAM configuration too... ::)

Sorry, but that's a 3dfx related auction, there is no rule you shouldn't post your bargains. ;)

For giving this post a sense I found an auction the seller is "a bit" too confident for the value of the 5500... :o

okay stop arguing like 12 year olds, every seller may ask as much they want for thier product, that is not our concern, but yes 199 Euro's is alot of money for a 5500 AGP, but at least let it be there are enough others to bid on which are cheaper.

Title: Re: 3dfx Related eBay Auctions
Post by FalconFly on 01.05.05 at 20:04:26
IMHO the primary reason for the Thread series was to point out interesting (running) Ebay Auctions, so Forum Readers can take a shot at them.

Nice aquisitions (rare cards etc.) usually should go in personal Threads instead.

There are some other interesting auctions for those who live in the US, for example a lot of three Velocity 100 for $2.99 each Buy it now or an Ensoniq Banshee AGP for $2.99 Buy it now.

Micro Conversions Game Wizard for $12.50 Buy It Now: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5192628474
Too bad I got a package from the US recently, I don't want to annoy my uncle who lives in the states too often and the seller is away so he can't answer any questions about shipping rates to germany... :-/

Title: Re: 3dfx Related eBay Auctions

yeah That can suck sometimes, You want something badly, you know you can afford it, and then the others just don't wanna cooperate, a shame sometimes. Anyway Eye-Q did you allready sent the seller an email by asking if he would like to ship it to Germany, that might help also.

First I wanted to ask that question but as I saw the seller is away until april 12th I changed my mind because I don't want to buy a pig in a poke in respect to the shipping costs. Furthermore there is a Game Wizard at ebay germany which I try to purchase, and having two of them is nonsense because I don't run them anyway. ;)

gosh that euro mac, I remember paying over $200 for mine including shipping from Denmark

I keep paying too much for cards that dont worth their price.

perhaps also for the V5 5000 PCI

don't compare with mine... it was really a surprise for me and chances are small that such card will go so low at ebay... remember, it was my car which brouht me to ebay at this time ^^

i assume that this card is more rare than V5 6000 so the price you payed may be correct...

The 3dfx cards are one of the best cards for the Amiga. Of course you need a pci board like mediator or anything else.

Nope, that was the LAST one I needed to complete my Quantum3D arcade systems series.

I'm missing a single Quantum3D item (which I have a solid line on) and my collection will be complete except for two 3dfx boards.  After that I'm done.

I did try to e-mail you to try and make a deal, perhaps hotmail isn't working today ;-)

Guess its a really nice going away gift then.
already owe you more then I can ever repay..

hah.. I was so tempted to email you about an offer for the 5000 AGP. LOL
so wanted it before I leave for home. But never quite had enough to tempt you to sell it to me for sure

how is temperature?
we average about 35 to 39 C in the noon
drops to about 28 to 29 C at night,

summer whole year through and we get rain showers every now and then. Humidity is about 85%
so u can imagine the water vapor we face daily..

I worry my cards will rust without a dehumidifier

Yes, It's an 3Dfx Interactive, Inc. Voodoo Graphics.

The card also listens to ATC-2465 ;). It's a nice card, especially boxed because the retail box of an A-Trend looks nice  ;D

I have 4 A-Trend Voodoo 1 cards that work perfectly in my nForce 2 with AMD Athlon XP @ 2530MHz ;)
My older, fifth A-Trend doesn't work so far.
And as far as I now, the ATC-2465 cards with a yellow sticker on the backside will run in a newer computer system  :)

That's okay, my most powerful PC runs at 600MHz...

So there were two versions of this model, a black (see FalconFly 3dfx ID page) and a green one (this one).

???

Title: Re: 3dfx Related eBay Auctions
Post by FalconFly on 15.05.05 at 22:05:35
Well, there were many Brands shipping exactly that Card, be it black or green PCB.

IMHO it is almost impossible to tell whether this was originally sold as an A-Trend card (at least I know of no 100% A-Trend only mark on a naked Card), as many 3rd party companies did reselling of the identical Model (sometimes even with the ATC-2465 still imprinted on PCB)

Gary is selling his V3 2000 PCI Retail ?
I thought he bought one :P. Misunderstood.

Well, I really want that card, the Voodoo 3 2000 boxes are just lovely. Especially the PCI models ;D

I have only one PC with AGP4x, the rest is AGP8x.

So Gary, if you want to sell that card, I'm interested  ;)

No, ebay doesn't translate the message, it translates only their texts (e.g. "question about shipping for this item" and the informations about their safety standards etc.). The text you write is copied one-to-one into the mail.

Post by sloomy on 21.05.05 at 00:31:39
no the connector of the V3 3500 cards seems very similar to a normal DVI output, but if you compare with an DVI cable, you will see, that the V3 3500 connector is bigger and thicker. ;)

That means the seller has no idea , what he is selling :)

The "Deutsche Post" is not only extremely expensive, it's additionally also very slow in international shippings ;)

Don't know why, the other way around is usually 8x cheaper and about 3x faster.

Title: Re: 3dfx Related eBay Auctions

Maybe a tip for people who live close to other countries :
Ship it from there ;)

I live in the Netherlands, sending an huge package to Germany will cost a lot of money.
But, I can go to a near very place here.
Go to the posting office on the other side of the street in that place en voila, I'm in Germany ;).
Then I'm shipping from Germany to Germany and it's a lot cheaper  :)

Even easier for me, less than 20 minutes to go to France, 15 to go to Belgium and 30 to go to Germany. I can also ship items to Italy, where all my family lives.

I read somewhere that the core/die of the Voodoo 3 was called Voodoo 500  (It's also called Avenger, but VSA-100 = Napalm.).
The Velocity uses the same technique as the Voodoo 3.

I don't understand ???

Why did you bid on it if you didn't want it ???

Title: Re: 3dfx Related eBay Auctions
Post by edmundoab on 20.06.05 at 05:28:15
what he meant is,
he won the auction from Thandor who so wanted it.

and is giving him another chance to bid and win another similar item on ebay.
providing the link and wishing him good luck

Title: Re: 3dfx Related eBay Auctions
Post by st4r4m4m4 on 20.06.05 at 18:42:58
Got that right... and I see Thandor took my advice, hope he makes it this time, it's quite an intresting item to have (and use).
At least now he knows that there is one potential bidder less.

Well, I will follow this auction. I really want a MS6168 with onboard 3dfx.

This is a good chance to get one  ;D

Post by edmundoab on 21.06.05 at 07:23:35
yeah u can say that,
except this isn't really labeled as a second chance offer since its probably from a different seller.

too bad im no longer in the US
otherwise I would have have bid on a few more things on ebay  :-/

Oh and @gamma742 - you were correct! ;D

Sorry about that @Thandor, but to paraphrase what Falcon and Gary have said at one time or another... ::)

"It's best NOT to reveal your intention of bidding until you have WON the auction!" ;)

Besides, I've been after one of these for AGES too! 8)

Title: Re: 3dfx Related eBay Auctions
Post by Thandor on 21.06.05 at 12:33:58
Well, I didn't reveal my intention of bidding.  :-/ :'(

Sigh.. :-[

BFG3dfx Said :
Quote:
i dont bid against other falconfly forum ppl,

It would be nice if more people saw it that way.

If I see an auction and I recognize the bidder's nickname I won't bid. After all we all wan't some cards but bidding against each other is kind of useless and a waste of money..

Title: Re: 3dfx Related eBay Auctions
Post by paulpsomiadis on 21.06.05 at 14:25:51
Sorry man! :-[

I usually follow that rule too, but there are a few exceptions out there... :P

...just happened to be that we were both after the same item and it IS eBay after all...open to everyone! ;)

It's still amazing that I won, as I had to use dial-up this morning until I could fix the settings on my router (back on broadband now!) ::)

You'll eventually get one...it's not like you're trying to buy a Q3D Graphite or something - LOL! ;D

ends up we are the ones willing to fork out that kinda money for an obsolete card =)

I go through worldwide eBay auctions every single day so far (althow I'm a new collector) I still haven't seen any of the mentioned atrend boards :P .

The MSI board is just the easiest to find...hence why everyone talks about it! ;)

...even though we do know about the other mobo.'s you mentioned! :D

Is it just me or does that A-Trend board you pictured have support for XG-Midi files...looks like it has an "XG" logo on the inbuild sound chip...(bottom right) ???

you are right....and they are rare as hell ;) last year i talked with an asus employee and he told me that the p3b-v never reached the user...it was only a plan...but there must be some prototypes :D

here is a 6254M-review: link

another strange thing is that the 6253M exists as a v3 2000 and as a v3 3000 version! and information are also rare coz atrend does exist any longer...

the gigabyte seems to have passed trough my memory once, but the unreleased asus is completly unknown to me  :o

But now I think we shoud better pack up our mobos and move to a new topic before someone complains :P

well, it may sound a little odd, to me every Voodoo is rare,

A. 3dfx doesn't exsist anymore, okay in our hearts they do exsist ;).
B. They arn't being built either.

Every Voodoo is special and has it's own story.

Post by edmundoab on 02.07.05 at 04:24:11
you are correct lux,
yes, I agree with obi wan that every card has its own piece of history.

But we cannot deny the fact that some cards have totally lost its value.
something like the V5 5500 AGP.
because they keep popping up on ebay, the prices keeps going lower and lower and lower.
Being too common a card that is obsolete and everyone wants to get rid off.

same goes to the Voodoo Graphics Diamond Monster 4MB
that too, I remember selling one of my spare revisions and I ended up making loses after paying for shipping and such. No one would pay even more then 99 cents at one point in time, just for the item itself. And paypal sucked me up bad on this one.

In otherwords, yes there are cards that rise in value,
perhaps most obvious would be the V5 6000 Prototype.
But still, 3700s are within reach and aren't that rare.

I can dare say that my best buy was still the V 5000 PCI. Which turns out to be the better investment among the rest. Through time, some cards go up in price and some go down. Unfortunately, I haven't seen much raise in value of my total collection to be honest.

well, if it wasn't available every now and then thanks to hank and amiga...

i suppose its price would to rise too.
but I believe its still around the same price range for now,
if not dropped a little as compared to the first few 3700s that everyone wanted and thought it was hella rare..

Man am ever I Pi$$ed off!!

Do you think this guy is working for the seller?

http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=5213591118

If he bails out I'm not interested in a second chance offer. I feel totally exposed (bid wise). Look at the timing. I mean, sure it's possible but come on! I toss a counter bid and in 15-20 minutes later this happens. I wouldn't be surprised if it was in the final minutes of the auction close but...

Arggg!!!

Hmm, what's the difference between the S-12 and the 90-4440 AGP? ???

isn't the obsidian 90 made for consoles while the S12 made for more end users?

Xlinx flash on the board.

The 90-4440 was used in Quicksilver units, that is where this unit came from.

Err, "computer_md" is the seller that I'm getting the card from - and also the seller who has the cables... ::)

...perferably I'd rather just build a medusa cable - then I can also do a tutorial on how to build replacement cables! ;D

If not, I can fork out for one (getting paid tomorrow...) 8)

But I want to give it that "personal" touch...plus I'm sure the pinout exists SOMEWHERE on a forum post either here or at 3DfxZone.it... ???

Anyone handy with homebuilt V2's?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4663&item=7529443772&rd=1

I think this guy has a lot of those boxes waiting/incoming since it's the second time I see him selling a box of those.

A Micro Conversions Game Wizard boxed: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5217039440
Unfortunately I don't have a credit card so I am not able to pay it (I can't pay by bank transfer to paypal, I don't know why... ???). 10$ is really cheap for this card.

I thought Gary was hosting them but I couldn't find them, only the pin-out for the Mercury I/O cable he and I worked on. Click on my callsign and shoot me an email @ my hotmail address and I'll send you the pin-outs.

Casebadges  ??? :'(

You'd better stick to real casebadges ;)

I hope I can get those chips. But then not for casebadges, keycords or other abuse :P

Be careful thandor , when I saw the previous auction i said... the hell why not, and I started calculating the possible weight and size this thing has... guess what: "big fat" package and I suppose would also be a "big fat" shipping price.
BTW: the previous auction ended at something around 100$

yeaps you've got a point  st4r4m4m4, the product maybe cheap, but the weight may cause a negative effect to the total shipping price of the won product, so instead of 100 bucks for it you might pay 150 for the whole thing, because you have the postal services, you got the tax of the postal services and the the tax of the payment method via the payment method you use, heh and the list goes on and on.

Well if you want some, you gotta pay some.

I'm afraid that this time it will go for the same prices as the last time, I wonder what happened to those other boxes that was sold on ebay?
Just the idea that someone is making key chains out of these chips makes me sick.

FalconFly is hosting the pinouts for the medusa. http://www.falconfly.de/reference.htm It's the last entry in the "Technical Reference / Documentation" section.

Now all you need now is the parts...

I agree, the chips can be used in a good way (as they we're meant to be used). Not for keychains or something similar.

Instead of using new chips it would be better to use chips from broken cards for keychains...

And about the shipping costs, I will think about it.
I hope no one else is bidding on the chips  ;)

Thanks for the link @Gamma742 - but in the end I decided to fork out for the "official" medusa cable... ;D

...story goes that I had some cash left in my PayPal account that I forgot about, so I paid for my Obsidian 2 AGP with most of that and only a small amount extra from my bank! 8)

So I decided, why the heck not for the Medusa cable! ::)

All's well that ends well I guess... ;)
