Title: Canopus Pure3D and Voodoo Rush polka dot problem
Post by sigtau on 23.12.08 at 06:10:16
I own two 3dfx cards that have a problem with polka dots appearing in the  rendered textures.  Basically, it looks like someone spray painted various colors on all or most of the rendered surfaces.  I've seen this on a Voodoo Rush (Intense 3D) and Voodoo 1 (Pure3D) cards.  I own duplicates of each and they don't display the same error, so I assume it's a hardware problem.

I'm sure there's no way to fix it, but I'm curious to know what is causing the problem?  Bad memory? Overheated Chips?

Dots are usually overheating or bad GPU's. I would assume that applies to 3dfx cards as well.

I've got the same problem with 2 "2 the Max" Voodoo2's.
But only with SLI at 1024!

Try UNDER-clocking the cards a bit...sometimes works! ;)

If not then it's bad RAM or a damaged Bruce/Chuck chip... :-/
