Title: g.Asus CUV4X-E motherboard/CPU comination
Post by bucksavage on 09.02.10 at 07:22:05
I would like to find out what the fastest cpu i could put on it would be, or perhaps the most powerful?  I have a decent rig as it is, but, the pc with the CUV4X-E has more pci slots and 1 more ram slot than my current rig.  Any thoughts?

Hey,
if you go to the asus.com website you'll see some specs on your CUV4X-E: http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=CUV4X-E&product=1&os=17

Looks like a P3-1.0B or a Celeron 1100 is your max. for this board.

I have a spare board that might work out better for you.  It's an ASUS A7V133: http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=A7V133&product=1&os=17

The board comes with 1 AGP4X, 5 PCI slots.  It has an AMD 1400MHz (max supported CPU) CPU and heatsink. I can also include other hardware.

Well thx anyways....it's not like my current machine sucks or any thing, I'm currently runnin a Socket 478 mPGA P4 1.4 Willamette on a Intel D854HV mainboard with an Intel i845 chipset.  The main thing I like about the other mobo is that it has far more pci slots and the extra ram slot, that's about it, but....if this current one handles a faster cpu, then it's fine by me.  And anyways, I couldn't afford to buy the other board from you....I'm pretty broke at the moment...seems like  running gag with me...thx anyways though, I appreciate the offer.  All the same, I am going to look at those spec links you posted...maybe I can use the other pc for something down the road...

Oh well....whatever you decide.....much appreciated....though I have quite a pile of pc stuff atm as well....most of it is complete junk though...a couple old hds that have seen the last of their days and such....etc, etc.
