Hi,

got still one old TR1 CDROM and Voodoo 2 Cards. Some months ago I managed to play TR1 with the Voodoo 2 Glide patch. I ran this on a ABIT KT7A Board + Athlon-M.

But now for some unknown reason none of the DOS based 3DFX games are working anymore. Everytime the game is changing in to 3DFX hardware rendering the screen went blanc. For instance Descent 2, the DOS space shooter also. Apart from that all other Windows based 3DFX games are still running well as before, so here nothing has changed.

Its just the DOS Problem. I checked the memory, put the Voodoo 2 in severeral slots, removed all other cards, tried some other glide2x.ovl. No success.

I tried the voodoo 2 then on a older ABIT BH6 mainboard with a PIII 500. There everything is working fine. But I want keep my ABIT KT7A for my Voodoos.

What can cause such a oddly behavior of the hardware. Why don't like my voodoo 2 work in DOS Mode on the ABIT KT7A no more? It worked vefore! I assume that there is no physical damage. May it be a BIOS related matter....? hmmmmmmmmm...

Did you check the glide2x.ovl file on the right locations? DOS always looks in the 'current directory' and in every directory that is listed in that PATH environment. To check out which directories are listed there type in 'path' at the DOS prompt.

Make sure that there is just one glide2x.ovl file on your hard drive that is listed in either PATH or the current directory. The easiest way to work is to put glide2x.ovl in the C:\DOS directory or C:\3DFX or something (keep it simple and general Wink

) and remove every other glide2x.ovl file.

If you have, for instance, a glide2x.ovl for a Voodoo Banshee in the C:\WINDOWS directory and PATH is set to C:\DOS;C:\WINDOWS;C:\SBPRO then your DOS games will fail if you use a Voodoo II. Except when you put a glide2x.ovl in the root of the game directory because DOS will check this directory first, but then you have to copy the file over and over again to each root directory of a game.

thanks for your quick reply.

The glide2x.ovl for TR1 works only in its game installation folder. So here nothing can be mixed up. But thanks for your advice, which can be useful for other 3dxf games!

Everybody: Problem solved! Had to set the CPU clock to 500 MHz. Now TR1 is running. Maybe my second Athlon GEODE 1750 is going to stare death in the face... jeh... Sad
