FSAA not working on TV?
12.02.07 at 22:56:37
Hi!
Got my Evilking4 now running on my TVScreen. Now i get a black screen when trying to run a glide app with 2xAA. But the sound runs in BG.
I am using the SFFT 42 drivers...are the glide files from koolsmoky better or newer? which ones are included in SFFT?
Maybe FSAA is unworkable on TV?
Greetings Tobi

Are you saying that no FSAA does work on your TV, but 2x FSAA does not ?

I am not sure if i got you right. There appears a black screen (glide) or a screen with pink lines (D3D) whenever i use 2xAA in 3dfx tools instead of fastest performance.
I donīt know if the card works correct on the VGA Output...maybe someone of you ever testet AA on TV...

Well, by technical nature, the TV Output does not care about its input.
I assume we're still talking about your broken card that still fails to operate normally.
My best advice is to troubleshoot it with a classic Monitor attached, as TV Out is a higher add-on Function of the card and the last in the chain of processing.
Chances are : It's simply broken unless proven otherwise.
Solution remains : get a new Video Card...
The very best platform for testing is a 3dfx Standard Driver, either Win9x or from a Linux Boot CD.

Hi!
As is stated out in my last post on the evilkings topic the card runs without problems glide and d3d after the resistor rework. 8)
There exists an option called temporal AA hotkey...if i press the button the picture is somehow anti aliased but also jumping one pixel right and back in a very fast manner.
I think it could really be a driver problem. Yesterday i tested the newest amigamerlin and same result...

This is 'normal' for TAA - it's how it works!
You are not supposed to notice this, but you need a VERY fast CPU for the effect not to be seen...
...also it depends a lot on the refresh rate of the display - higher refresh rate = less flickering of pixels.

Yes TAA works...but its not the same type of AA?
I think the other AA button activates the vsa FSAA? And this one does not work...

Ah - right I understand!
You mean that 2x AA won't work on T.V.
Do they work on a CRT/LCD monitor? ???
==edit==
My bad about 4x AA - post corrected...

it just crashes and/or shows a bluescreen...any new ideas?
the v4 is afaik not able to do 4xFSAA, this is restricted to V5 due to dual/quad chip setups. I heard the SFFTs are problematic with Glide so i installed the AM3.11 drivers and same result with crash at startup of UT.
TAA is no option because display on TV is limited to 50Hz
and this gives terrible results
Any other driver able to do glide correct? Koolsmokys?

Personally, I think you're lucky that the rework got the card to run GLiDE and D3D...
...the real question is
:
"Do you really need FSAA?" ???
