Title: 5500 PCI Will Not Boot Anymore
Post by chevy05 on 07.04.07 at 01:21:52
I had a 5500 PCI that I purchased years ago off of E-Bay, tested it for a few days, and then put it on a shelf for a few years as I had two AGP cards at the time.  I installed the PCI in a Dell 8300 with a 3 GHZ CPU and such and it ran just fine for several months with no problems until the PC locked up on my son one day.  Fans were still running fine, and I had a Zalman 80mm fan and bracket blowing directly on the back side of the card as we all know they run hot.  Installed the card on an old Pentium II and still would not boot up.  Threw other cards in both PC's and no problems.  None of the capacitors appear to be leaking or swollen, so it appears I have a dead card.  Before I throw a hard to find card out, is there anything that I can try as a final effort?  I really want a 4500, but you know how hard they are to find also.
