Title: a voodoo2
Post by Ano Nimous on 20.05.04 at 20:28:51
I just found this site:Great to see the support 3dfx cards get, i was totally surprised!
I recently got my hands on 2 voodoo cards but don't know exactly what they are.
The first one I quess is a voodoo3 and the second a voodoo2, but both cards are different from the pics I could find on the internet.

Both cards are PCI.

The voodoo3 has a small silver heatsink and has 8 spots for memory chips but only the outer 4 are used (the 4 memory chip spots closest to the heatsink are empty).
The chips read:SAMSUNG 004, KM4132G1120-6, UFL003AB KOREA.
At the left side below the (blue) VGA-connector: 3DFX Interactive 210-0382-004.
At the upperright corner are 2 stickers. The first one sais:"PRODUCT OF MEXICO" and the second is a barcode: 0876001C000000000000005AEBJA.
Above the barcode on the PCB itself: "REV D"

The Voodoo2 has 24 memory chips installed (12 on either side) and 4 chips.
The one to the left is probably the RAMDAC (it sais: ICS GENDAC, ICS5342-3, 9818/UA830134)
Of the other three 2 are "heatsinked" the third reads: 500-0010-01, D19772.00 BE, 9851 20004, TAIWAN 1001.
FCC: ICUVGA-CW803N or ICUVGA-GW803N
On the bottomside is a sticker (with a barcode): GIB 34505, MADE IN TAIWAN.
I think this is a voodoo2 because it looks very similar to other voodoo2's i've seen on the internet, but note that the Graphics chips and the memory chips aren't arranged in the same way as on all the other voodoo2 cards.
I also dont know if the 2 (green) heatsinks were oem or added later. I dont even know if perhaps originally all three used to have a heatsink.

I made a few shots of both the cards but I dont know how to add these shots to my post.
If anyone can tell me that ill add them here if I can.

The voodoo2 was a real stroke of luck. I happened to be on my way home by bike at garbagetime (or whatever that is called in english) and noticed a screwed-open computer standing on the side of the road and I decided to have a look and there she was!
If I hadn't been there at that time and place this card would probably 've been incinerated by now!

The FCC ID 210-0382-004 indicates :
3dfx Voodoo3 2000 16MB

FCC ID 500-0010-01 and the Number of RAM Chips indicates :
Diamond Monster 3D II, 12MB

Not all Voodoo2's used the Reference design ;)
I myself have one with green, roundish Heatsinks attached to the Chips.
