Title: What is the best time to end an auction
Post by gamma742 on 13.08.05 at 21:58:32
In order to have a successful auction on ebay, what DAY and TIME GMT do you think is best to reach everyone world wide.

In other words. How would YOU be affected if trying to bid on my Voodoo5 6000 power supply at the last seconds. Not that I'm trying to encourage anyone to bid "Hint, Hint" but does my auction end at a convenient time for you IF you wanted to bid on it?

in my opinion, i think 7 dyas is enough for people to bid if they want to get it, but "buy it now" price is good for early close but depends on the seller

of course ,the "buy it now" price is ideal price seller can accept and meet his expection

:)

Yeah, 7 days is plenty of time. But you know how people like to wait until the last minute to bid...

Well, What is the best time for the auction to end?

I picked Sunday as the day hoping that most people would be home. But now that I think about it. Sunday in San Diego, California USA might be Monday in another country.

I guess a better question would be.

What time & day does my auction end in your country?

My friends of the 3dfx Community, the best time to end your auction is actually after the last 10 seconds.

really then it gets exciting.

@ Gamma 742, don't worry lad, you will sell your VV for a great price, it's  the last 10 seconds that count the most.

Use the Force Well, It Will Guide You Your Way.

To be honest, you picked the worst time possible for
the European people (GMT+1 here). The auction seems
to end somewhere in the middle of the night here.

Although technically it ends on a monday that wouldnt
be a real problem since its still vacation here for most
people.

It seems almost impossible to get all people happy about
the ending time. The difference in time between Europe
and USA can be up to 11 hrs. Edmund will probably be able
to tell you the best time to let it end. If I'm not mistaking
he had the same problem some time ago.

Hmm... Maybe ending the a bit earlier on a Saturday would have been better. I was sort of hoping that this auction might appeal to some of the German collectors.

I usually make my auctions end on Friday, Saturday or Sunday between 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM.

And usually, waiting for September to come is a nice idea, along with putting auctions at the beginning of the month, when people have "more" money... you see what I mean.

hmm 128 USD, is about: 97 Euro's, not much really, I thought that you would easily get 250Euro's for at least  ::) or is 97 Euro's aka 128 USD a good sale for a working Voodoo Volts?

I had no idea what it was worth. I was hoping to get at least $50.00 and was told by another member that it should bring in $100.00

I am happy with the sale. I'm glad it went to Patience. I like her, and miss her around here.

Hi Gamma. I bought my voodoo 3 on ebay.

It's an STB voodoo 3 3000 AGP (does not have TV out like some vdoodoo3 3000's doo) It came Saturday.

I bought mine at buy it now price. 8$ + 12$ for shipping. 20$ totall was a good deal.

If you can, for those 3dfx cards, choose buy it now, as many of them get into bidding wars way early and drives the prices up like no tomarow.

And don't use any of those sniping programs. They do not work. There usually tends to be a ebay user who has his max bid at 100$ for a simple item such as a Pentium 2 333Mhz pc, when there are faster and cheaper ones for buy it now. Just like with Ram, 512mb ddr on newegg runs around 45$ including shipping, and on ebay you have people that pay 50$+ for ram, waste of money if you can get it cheaper brand new too. Still cheaper than here in New York were 512mb DDR3200 will cost you 95$ after rebates.

Research prices, base your max bid on prices. Don't just search ebay, search other good sites like newegg too. Thou newegg doesn't have old classic stuff. Bid at the last moment thou

BTW does anyone here have the CD of STB voodoo 3 3000 agp?
I know about the drivers section, but just wondering if anyone has the actual CD. I tried searching P2P's for the cd, but no luck. I do have the Voodoo 1 Diamond Monster 3D CD and my Monster 3D 4mb pci card (I have 2x Diamond Monster 3Ds..... maybe I should sell one and my old mother boards that need new power supplies..... -would people buy that if it doesn't work but can be fixed?).

Agreed. But I was trying to pick the best time for a world wide ending time. My winner Mystychat is from France. I beleive it ended at midnight for her. Chances are, She had to get up and go to work early the next morning :(

I ended at 4:00pm PST. If I had ended any later it would have been a real burden for her.

For domestic US, 6-8 pm Sunday. I totally agree.
