I want to add two "normal" (not blower style) PWM fans to my Radeon 3870X2 card and get rid of the noisy blower fan. ::)

The thing is that I've been trying to locate some right-angled fan adapters (or rather 45 degree ones) so that the air blows across the heatsinks at an angle (from inside, to outside the case - like with the default blower fan...) ;)

I can't seem to find these adapters ANYWHERE! :'(

Any ideas folks? :-?

Got any older style Dell PCs at your disposal?   I remember lots of them having shrouds that would right angle the air out the case for the CPU.  You could ghetto mod one of those (or more) to make a custom one for your video card.  The shrouds have fan mounting holes.  The ones I saw were all coloured green.  I don't remember the speeds of the machines though.  :)

I have one of those in my parts bag - WAAAAAAY too huge! :o :P

There's not a third party dealer out there that sell anything like what your looking for? I'm just wondering, I haven't really looked at whats out there but the 3870x2 was a fairly popular card. I'd think there would be quite a few options out there for aftermarket coolers and something that your looking for. Good luck with modding it if that's what you end up doing with it though. 

What about duct tape?  It can be used to make anything.  LOL

@razrx - umm well it can, but it would look weird... :o

@jandarsun8 - there are aftermarket coolers for the 4870x2 - sadly NOT for the 3870x2. ::)

The cards have a completely different component layout... :'(

BTW - does anyone know where I can get the pinout of the PWM blower fan that the 3870x2 uses? :-?

(Oh , and I've invested in two near silent 60mm PWM fans...) ;)

RED = +5
