Title: Voodoo5 goes grey
Post by ziptop on 09.04.04 at 06:15:27
Hi.
Has anybody seen a voodoo5 5500 64MB AGP graphics card suddenly start displaying in monochrome?

I swapped out my MSI MS-6195 motherboard for an older MSI MS-6167 that I know works. Everything else is fine, its also fine with GeForce2 GTS Pro 64mb and GeForce2 MX 32mb. However once I put the voodoo5 in all I get is a monochrome display.

System currently running.
MSI-MS 6167(see above for previous MoBo)
Award Bios v1.6 083000
Athlon Slot A classic 1000Mhz with 2x fan cooled HS
640Mb PC133 SDRAM
VideoLogic Sonic Vortex 2
Seagate OEM 10Gb HD
NEC 5700B 40xDVD-Rom
LiteOn Cd-RW (master)
HIPRO 250W PSU
8cm Case fan (covers off as well)

GF2 MX 32mb (fine)
GF2 gts pro 64mb (fine)
3dfx Voodoo5 5500 64mb (monochrome)

This card (the voodoo) was mostly fine with the MSI MS 6195 though it DID do the monochrome thing from time to time, I had a few issues with that mobo failing to post very well and thought it could be PSU, CPU or Motherboard. It looks like it might have been the board itself (old voltage regulators or dying capacitors), but all the other grahpics cards have also been in there so I dont think it fried the card.
All suggestions appreciated.
