Title: ATI Truform
Post by RaverX on 15.12.09 at 01:54:29
Hello all...

Just bought myself a Radeon 8500 (actually 2, one simple and one hercules aiw dv). I did that in order to play a very old game (Quake) - with an interesting function - Truform. There's a patch for that game, but I couldn't get it to work, it just doesn't seem to detect the Truform hardware. Tried a lot of drivers - official ati catalyst (from the newest to the oldest), tried with omega drivers too...nothing.

Anyone here who managed to make Truform work in Quake ? The patch can be found here : http://www.quaddicted.com/engines/ - just scroll down to TruQuake.

The only game where I've seen truform is the Return to castle wolfenstein; and It wasnt really that impressive there either. Apart from this, I've seen it in some demos - was it Rachel?

Be as it may, I wish you luck, though I really cant see where this can be used in quake where the models arent always humanoid ;)

I solved it that night, Quake modesl looks cool, not as pretty as advised on some pictures that I was back them (in 2002 I think), but it's nice. The only drawback is the weapons, those looks like ass, I will try to post some photos later.

From what I remember there is a renderer patch for the Unreal games...can't remember where I got it from, but HERE might be a good place to begin... ;)

I can remember playing U.T. with Truform - makes some things look like they're made out of bubbles... :P :-/

half-life1 supports truform as well-the counter-strike AWP rifle looked particularly sweet..
