Title: Quantum3D 100SB-4400 vga problem
Post by Menkau_ra on 02.01.10 at 18:21:54
I just got my first 100SB-4400 from ebay! I really love Quantum3D products, like everybody else here;)
But the seller told me that vga doesn't work. TV outs are perfect, I played already. The card is in a great shape too. So what could be with the vga? Maybe it needs a pass-thru cable to work?
I saw somebody had the same card here with the same problem. Maybe it is the same card also?:)

I think you are referring to 2000lfd's card? That's Gary Donovan, a mod here on Falconfly.

Most likely something is broken on a hardware level. No telling what it can be.

I suspect the card has a custom "firmware" in the xlinx chip so it is limiting it to TV output only, as to why I'm not sure.

I do have the xlinx programmer and documentaion but never got around to tinkering with it, too much on my plate.

That's what I thought! Do you know where I can buy this xlinx programmer? There is nothing on ebay. And where I can find the original firmware?

You was right! I can see that some one tried to put a programmer on all chips, xilinx one of them. But why do you think it is xilinx causes the problem? I am thinking to buy a Willem programmer, but will I need to buy a special converter to this chip?

Quantum3D use the xilinx chips to control what the board will and will not do, they also use the chip as a "key" for certain locked programs.

Should it be a 44-pin head on a programmer? Or I have to uses a 6-pin connector near the xilinx?

gdonovan,
if you don't have a programmer no more, can you tell me, please, what xilinx programmer exectily I am looking for? There are many different ones on ebay.
I really want to make this card working.

I do have it but since you have the board on ebay thought you were disinterested.

It's beacause I thought I have no chance to fix it. I don't now much about Quantums, but when I got mine Obsidian2 X-24 the seller said that his didn't have a medusa cable and put a very good price on that. This time I didn't now who was the seller, and I thought it uses the same 26pin medusa cable, the one I have already. If I would know that seller was you, and you are pro in Quantums, I guess I wouldn't put my bid.
My goal is to fix the card and use it. If I can't fix it I'll sell it to somebody who can.
