Title: Voodoo5 5500 AGP MAC Edition
Post by Chosen_One on 02.07.05 at 11:33:48
does anyone have information about this card? yesterday i read some interesting files of the 3dfx source codes which told me that a bios exist for a v5 5500 agp mac! now i tried google and found some interesting quotes!

link #1
link #2 (german)
the german article (14.12.2000 - one day before death) tells us that 3dfx released this card in the beginning of dec. 2000! so there must be some cards on the market!
but i don't see if the v5 5500 agp mac has a dvi-port or something else!

well....any ideas???

well Nigel64 had one and he sold it to Osckhar :)
oh here it is:

The famous Voodoo5 5500 AGP x4 with DVI, the only one known.

Anyway I think would have planned this card as the VoodooMAC 5500 AGP for begin October  and  I have been thinking about this for quite sme time, since I got the 5500 PCI for MAC from Edmundoab.

3dfx made a PCI version, I thought like what about the AGP version, there's gotta be an AGP version of the MAC cards, as for the 4500 and 5500 models.

Osckhar's 5500 AGPx4 with DVI might explain the missing gap for the 5500MAC  AGP :)

I doubt any were actually sold, announcing something is available and it actually being on the shelf are two different things.

It *IS* possible the 5500 AGP x 4 boards that are floating around are actually the Mac pieces with PC bios and were blown out with the regular cards in an attempt to make some cash. 3dfx sold a lot of odd things the last few weeks to raise cash like the 4200 Daytonas to IBM.

Like Gary said, it yet may be a Mac 5500 AGP but with a PC Bios, so tthere is still a chance that Osckhar's card is a MAC 5500 AGP afterall ;)

that could be the answer...you're right! coz osckhar's v5 5500 agp dvi has no dvi-output! maybe it's the wrong bios! with the right bios (for mac) you can use the dvi-port...on a mac!

Isn't the MAC DVI connector different from the PC version?

3dfx used the DVI-D port! no other port is known! "D" means only digital output!

but i guess you're right....the standard dvi-port is DVI-I (analog & digital outout)

difference between DVI-D & DVI-I
