Title: Need Help 'v3 3500 EvilKing'
Post by osckhar on 10.06.04 at 10:34:49
Hi to all,

Well, 3 Weeks ago I bought on Ebay a V3 3500 EvilKing ELINK. And when I received the card, I see that was practically equal to my V3 3000 EvilKing. When compare both, I see that are same...
The guy says that the number on the chip correspond to the V3 3500 (PLASMA ONLINE), and that is true... But this card is a v3 3000, besides it come with mem TC-6 (166MHz)... When I boot the pc, the first screen show me a V3 3000.

Then, I need a picture (High Resolution) V3 3500 PowerColor  for show him the difference...

Thanks,
Oscar

Why don't you make an Image of the Monitor showing the Video Bios, a Screenshot of the 3dfx Tools Details, or read the PCI ID ?

All of those should identify the Card beyond doubt.

PS.
If you'd give me the model numbers, I could compare it with my own EvilKing 3 Pro.

Also, in the Site I linked, one can clearly see 5ns RAM...

Hi Osckhar,
this is exactly the Powercolor Evilking 3 (V3 3000) that I have here, this is in no way a V3-3500...

Hola Rolo01,  ;D

Exactly, it is a V3 3000 (now I am owner of 2 V3 3000 EvilKing  :-/), but he doesn't believe me. The guy has said to me  that the number on the chip correspond to the V3 3500 (PLASMA ONLINE). And that is true... :( For that I need a PICTURE of the V3 3500 and so he will see the differences between both cards...

Regards,
Oscar

Yep, looks exactly like mine too, with the exception of the RAM : EliteMT 5.5ns.
(also a Evilking 3 Pro 166MHz)

The Model Number (3892C719) should be unique for the Card IMHO.

You didn't have to copy the entire auction text here, you know =\

that's what i think, for what's it worth

Did you already test the Card in a System and checked the factory Clock (166 vs. 183MHz) ?

That's really the easiest way ;)

But in defense of the seller, I must also note this one actually is not easy to nail down, since only scarse Information exist about the Card (e.g. finding only one (1) Image of the EvilKing Extreme 183MHz worldwide really is kinda scarse ;) )...

Hum, i see on the picture "166" near "3892C719".
That means probably '166 mhz".

So i think that for a "3500", it would be written "183" (for 183 mhz).

@PATRICKFISH, Hi
Yes, that is true. Anyway  you did not put problem some when I commented to you that I am from  Spain... You accepted! Now is easy to say that...

I don't think so- 3dfx.com has not existed for years and had no card identification features when it was up. Even if the site was still up 3dfx didn't make the card Powercolor did and it wasn't a reference design board.

All you had to do was boot up the machine, load drivers and check the mhz with powerstrip or 3dfx tools.

For the record I was the other bidder in the auction and would have been very bent out of shape if I had won a 4-5 year old card for $50+ and it wasn't what it was advertised to be, which is the bottom line.

In my opinion, this is not and will not hever bean a 3500.
This is a 3000, i have a friend that had one just like it.
I buy it and put it on is PC a few years ago.
But i cannot swere it with my sould because the 3500 model could be very similar...
Also that story about checking in 3dfx.com, does not make many sence to me because 3dfx never did make this card.
For what i remember, Powercolor did make the all card, except the chip and the memories...
I dont whant to be rude, but i fell some will from the seller to sell it good...
Sorry about my dearing, but i had to say it...
