I bought me a 2700 A1 Voodoo 5 5500 MAC with MT RAM and PC BIOS but I found out that C508 on the back of the PCB is missing.

I got a defective voodoo 4 4500 for spare parts. Which part of it should I solder to the C508 spot?

I also need to know how to replace the missing C546 on a Voodoo 4 PCI

I have a busted V5500 AGP that I "might" be able to source spares from... ;)

But like @Hank said - we'll need a high res picture (no webcams please!) :P

As for the Voodoo 4500...I just sold mine (sorry!) so I can't help there. :-/

I marked the damaged spots I found so far with red circles. Maybe there are some more bad areas I hope you can tell now.

no, missing capacitors.
It should be about 10 min of working if u have the needed tools.

The card should work also without these missing capacitors.
Did u try to start the cards ?

oh noo sorry forget about that tiny dot. That was a mistake with paint... The damages are circled, don´t you see the spots?

On the Voodoo 4 next to the connector and on the Voodoo 5 nearby the MOLEX Power Connector.

Of course they work without the capacitors, but I don´t want to risk the RAM or the cards. That´s why I wanted to repair them, to enjoy them longer.

What about the missing cap on the voodoo 4 PCI? Have you seen it too?

Both cards are still alive, but the mac has some stability issues

C508 is .1uF ceramic 0603 size.

The other cap is most likely part of RGB filter, I have to check what capacitor is used there. When a filter cap is missing it will only change image quality, no damage is expected.

C508 is still there on my "dead" (donor) V5500. :)

So I can supply the spare part if necessary. ;)

How much is a letter to germany?

Do you also have the v4pci cap? So that we can include it?

If someone can figure out what value the V4500 CAP is - then I can easily find a replacement (even from a dead V5500). ;)

A letter to Germany costs practically nothing - so don't worry. 8-)

And I also need a C515 cap from a Voodoo 5 5500 AGP. It´s one of the caps located under the second VSA100

I won´t even think of testing it without the missing cap...

The Voodoo 4 4500 PCI works fine till now, I can´t see any significant problems with the image. (But I still think I should better fix it) :-/
