i got a A64 3800+ (as fast as FX-53) and got only 3000 points... but i put that V5 5500 PCI as a second card (first is my 6800Ultra) and used Win XP... should have used Win98 and no 6800Ultra....

@TM30,

It's in the 3dfx tools, if you want to get the fastest speeds/fps out of the card set it to
+2, the negative side effect of doing this is that it makes the displayed graphics look very blurred.

I think you meant +2 not -2 .

well the most wierdest thing ocured here too:

My score on my AThlonXP 2700+ with ASUS A7V333-R and 5500 AGP OS Win 98SE AM 2.9 V5@ 177Mhz cores/mem :

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8014863

and my new score on my Athlon64 3200+ 1MB L2 with MSI MS-7030 K8N Neo Platinum nForce3 250Gb with a 5500 OS: Win2K Pro + SP4 AM 3.1 R1 PCI V5@ 188Mhz cores/mem  Undecided

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8200077

I suppose that the A64 isn't so good for Voodoo5 in 3D Mark. because in games it's way better that the XP 2700+ config.

3D Mark 2001 does not take much advantage from the increased L2 Cache of the Athlon64 1MB variant.

Since that AthlonXP 2700+ 256k L2 Cache are sufficient, it can win due to the higher clock speed of 2166MHz vs. 2000MHz of the Athlon64.

Other theory :
Since 3D Mark 2001 does not recognize the Athlon64 correctly, it may not use 3dNow! or SSE...
(unsure about that one, one would need to test it with the SIMD Extensions disabled to compare)

Falcon here is correct, 3dmark01 is very 'system-benchmark' oriented, it benefits from cpu speed more than anything.

proof of concept on a radeon 9700p;

id'e suggest that you overclock the A64 system to atleast match the AXP one, you should then see equal and/or better performance.

hmm okay, but OC'n the AXP 2700+  wouldn't be worth it i guess, my mainboard is an ASUS A7V333-R Rev 1.04. I hardly never OC my CPU's really, they are fast enough the way they are.

And A Barton 3000+, wouldn't that be my best CPU of Choice? Because that a Barton 3200+ has an 400Mhz FSB which might not cope on my ASUS A7V333-R Rev 1.04 Bios is 1017 BTW.

you'll need a lot of luck that your KT333 Board runs at 200FSB... and you need good RAM (PC3200... or good 2700 one...)

you could set the fsb to 166 and raise the multi... that would be an option
