Title: AAlchemy Systems
Post by gamma742 on 16.02.09 at 22:24:26
I need to find a rack for these systems. The weather has been rather bad lately so I got em out to mess around with them.

Now the wife wants to know if I need to have so many. I tried to explain that it all depends on what you want to do with them.. I got the deer in the headlights look  >:(

Easy :

Show her her own (probably) 10+ pairs of shoes and return the exact same question ;)

(if the first shot misses its target, rinse/repeat/cycle with jewelry and cosmetics etc... one of those is always a sure direct hit)

nice

5 cases so you need a 20u flightcase

[edit]
you can also buy a bigger one and a 19´drawer keyboard

[/edit]

or what did you mean?

Very nice you probably have every combination of AAlchemy cards 8xxx mass produced by Q3D.
Would be nice if you could find a Q3D rack for them, if not a 19" 22U high standard rack would do just have to find the right railkit to install them.
@exxe the AMP rack is not a good option as it's intended for transporting audio equipment and has no proper airflow front to back for the Q3D units.

@gamma472,
What is the SPP bridge?

Oscar.

The SPP or Sensor Post Processor is attach to the AA5 card in the same manner as the SLI connector.

About nVSensor also known as Sensor Post Processor

Developed for precision training and simulation applications that require high-fidelity night vision goggle (NVG) and/or infrared (IR) synthetic environments, the Quantum3D nVSensor is a programmable realtime image processing graphics subsystem that adds physics-based special effects, symbology and reticles to imagery rendered by the AAlchemy graphics subsystem. Designed to preserve the precision of the AAlchemy graphics subsystem, nVSensor interfaces with
AAlchemy via a 30-bpp digital pixel port and provides user selectable color space conversion to RGB values or gray scale, with support for white-hot and black-hot object definition. For integration flexibility, nVSensor provides both 24-bpp digital (DVI) and 30-bpp analog RGB outputs. nVSensor employs a programmable, multi-stage pipeline architecture that enables the subsystem to provide the most advanced sensor effects available in a PC-based product today without affecting core AAlchemy rendering performance or adding latency or transport delay to the overall graphics pipeline. Special effects currently supported by the nVSensor Effects Library include blur, noise, gain, bias, reticles and symbology, AC coupling, automatic gain control, polarity inversion and white-hot/black-hot settings.

As you can see.. The 3dfx Rack I currently have lacks the necessary support for my needs..

Question, does anyone know where to find the SLI bridge connectors for a dual Aalchemy board setup?  I have two boards for my rig, just no bridge to connect them.

Too bad your current 3dfx rack unit lacks the features necessary to hold four Aalchemy units  8-)

Seriously, it would be way cool to find the actual rack that Q3D used.  Any way to find out who was the actual sub-contractor that manufactured it for Q3D?

Yeah..  My wife and I were only joking. It's great to have a wife with a sense of humor. She just wanted to show off her 3dfx T-Shirt for you guys. She does want me to get rid of some of these systems though. It's not like I'm using them all that often. We agreed together to keep 3 so that I can run the 3 channel OpenGVS demos. It was my original intent to acquire 3 systems for that purpose, I just got a little carried away..
