I reckon a Rampage is pretty much on EVERYONES list - mainly as no-one has seen one outside of pictures from 3Dfx...at least there have been no eBay sales to my knowledge! :'(

Plus it would be REALLY cool to get one that was WORKING! (although virtually impossible!) :o

well it works only partually, the OpenGL works good afaik, QuakeIIIArena played very well and it looked pretty nice also.

And as for the Direct 3D part yes and no,
it has been proven in 3D mark2000 but with Unreal Tournament 4.36 it could only render in software mode.

As for Glide, well that wasn't inplented yet and nor was the driver support for glide either.

I might want one since it's the last creation that 3dfx made in a PCB form, but it's not worth the big price tag it has, it's just too expensive.

two days ago I recieved a free Voodoo3 3000 AGP Box with aal it's documents, papers and booklets in it, only the card it's self is a V3 2K AGP Rev.C 2499, oh well I can't complain, the Box seems to the USA version, there are no German and french writings on it :)

I have a  3000 AGP with exactly the right missing CD's! so the V3 3K Box has it's items complete once again :)

Hehe.  That was lucky then!  A sweet coincidence!

I checked all my Voodoo3 boxes (2000 PCI/AGP, 3000 PCI/AGP, 3500).  None of which are US versions.  All bought here in the UK.

They're all solely English based except the 3000 PCI, which is multilingual.  The primary language on the box is English.  Never really noticed this before.  I wonder if there is a 3000 PCI solely based on the English language, without it being the US version.

Something to look into, cheers Obi.

After looking into previous auctions, I only found this

which is exactly the same as mine. You can tell if it is not multilingual, as it only has one line of small text under the Voodoo3 title.  This has 3, each in different languages.

hmm never knew that mine reads alot different on the back of the box though, my older 3000 AGP did have multilingual lines onit, so maybe my box is an English version then, the back of the box also has a very different tekst on it, I'll make a shot of it tonight, to show you the differences, the Voodoo3 2000 PCI isn't multilingual either and Voodoo3 3500 TV AGP box is multilingual ... wierd! :-/

oh well I don't know why 3dfx left the 2000 PCI and 3000 AGP singlelingual and the 3000 PCI and 3500 TV AGP multilingual.

All the Daytona cards we know are either 16MB or 32MB.

I doubt there's actually a 64MB version since they never really got passed the development stages.

Actually Hank indicated that the Daytona AGP board I have was pretty much considered a production item.

The Daytona boards were to be released in January of 2001.

A more important point to consider though was market segment the boards were aimed at. Chances are the Daytona and Napalm boards would be sold side by side and the Napalm line would have been replaced with higher clocked Daytona pieces later on. Hank indicated on a post of the V6K board that they were planning a Daytona based V6K so there is no reason to suspect they were not looking at a 5500 with Daytonas as well.

Rampage was just up and running, it would have been at least the end of 2001 before the first Rampage based products showed up.

Sorry, I wandering away from my point- The Daytona boards like my AGP were budget cards and I doubt they would have been equipped with 64MB when there was already a 64MB card on the shelf like the 5500. A 64MB single chip card might have been done later to fill some market segment perhaps, but nothing the would have been done right off the bat.

Hmm 64 mb or not, Hank still named it vooDoo 4-2 4800. I dont understand why you would think such a card doesnt exist. I mean it posts like 4800 not?

Hank named an unreleased board 4800, the people who normally "name" the boards for retail sale are the marketing people not engineers.

What about the 32MB PCI versions? Why do they state 4200 and not 4800? If they were named like the Napalm series then both the PCI and AGP would have the same names just like the 4500 and 5500.

Naming of unreleased boards is rather haphazard as noted in a diifferent thread.

Which was compiled to a degree by third parties.

The boards were named by the marketing people, since the Daytona never made it to market they really have no official names besides Daytona.

The closest with an offcial name would have been the IBM Daytona.

Back on-topic:
I would love to have someday a PCI Voodoo 5 5500, although here in Romania it is allmoust impossible to buy one :(

Heh, it's not easy to get them anywhere really - most V5500's are of the AGP variety! ::)

I had to chuckle reading this since most of the funds used to obtain 3dfx cards was from selling off extras from my other hobby, cars.

21 years worth of stockpiled car parts will buy a few 3dfx cards.

Damn I'm getting old.

I have been lucky finding people with boards though but most of the time it's just been due to following up every lead no matter how small.
