Title: Voodoo 5 5500 PCI questions...
Post by paulpsomiadis on 15.06.04 at 04:03:26
I'm thinking about getting a V5 PCI...but I'm wondering about the following... ???

1. Could it be used in tandem with a Radeon 9700Pro, or would there be driver 'conflicts'? ???

2. Would it (V5 PCI) work in an Nforce 2 400 Ultra mainboard? ???

If it WILL work then it will get my GLiDE support back (no more GLiDE wrappers...) if not... :P

Oh well! ::)

I can't really give you an answere for this... But I has readed that some users have the V5 PCI like a second GFX without troubles.

Alright matey!  ;D

So you invested in a V5 PCI? Wise choice! 8)

According to what others have said previously in this forum, it is possible to have the two cards working in the same machine.

And regarding the mobo, as long as the PCI slots are 2.2 compliant, should work fine.

Stick it in, install the drivers and give it a run! Let us know what ya find! ;)

i don't think there should occur any problem regarding the gfx comination...the drivers shouldn't make us of similar file names..so hey, have a try! ;D

Thanks guys and gals! ;)

Unfortunately, my 'other' hobby of collecting Laserdiscs went into OVERDRIVE this month - and my bank account took a BIG kick in the AR$E... :'(

...so I'll let y'all know when I have some ca$h again to take-on this project. ::)

Thankfully, I'm selling my laptop by the end of this week...so I should have 'some' ca$h soon... :D

Personal thanks go to: -

@sergio - thanks for the test info on the NFORCE 2 400U mainboard, now I KNOW it'll work! ;)

@janskjaer - thanks for info on the PCI compliance! ;)

No worries dude!  ;)
Hope you get those student funds back up real soon! ;)
Seeing as you're in the Tyne area, you may have to resort to stealing cars on dealing pills on the street corners!  ;D
Take some money-making advice from your friendly Scouser counter-parts (God, they're a rough bunch!) :-X
Us Yorkshire lads, just resort to stealing the odd alloy wheel here and there, and holding up places like McDonalds! Hehe!  :D

Hold up McDonalds - are ya' INSANE man! :o

Surely you mean BLOCKADE McDonalds - you'd be doing the public a FAVOUR by closing the doors permanently on them! ;) :D

Mwahahahaha! :D 8)

With all the cash that McDonalds take around this area, I'd rather do MYSELF a favour and lift the tills!  ;D

You'll never stop people visiting Maccy D's.  Even if you do put those (high-fat and high-salt content) salads on the menu, they have to make them taste nice, in order to get more people going. Which means they're full of more sh*t ingredients unfortunately! >:(

Hehehe!  ;D

Yeah, some might say they do have ingredients!

But God only knows what they are!  :D

Just remember that before stepping into one of their branches!  :-X
