Title: voodoo2 on lcd
Post by RaverX on 06.08.07 at 21:02:53
I got a new 22" wide lcd 2 weeks ago and tried with my 3dfx machine, wich has a g400 and 2 v2 sli. On the G400 the image is very clear, but the glide application, like UT, are very washed, something close to 16 colors. Yes, 16 colors, not 16-bit colors.

Even stranger, Carma DOS accelerated on the Voodoo2, in 640x480 run very good and the image quality is acceptable.

Has anyone else tried old 3dfx cards on new big LCDs ?

I have run them on standard 1024 x 768 LCD's without any issues, have not tried on a widescreen though.

The DOS application runs fine, the others not. Are 'the others' ran on a Windows platform? If so it might be a good idea to check your drivers first or even think about a reļnstall.

Working towards the problem from a different way is possible by testing a different monitor. Though I don't think that the LCD causes the problem.

Well, i just ran UT, Q2, NFS Porsche and Blood2. All run fine in 640x480, but ugly in 800x600 and 1024x768. The refresh is set to 60 in all resolution in Voodoo2 panel.

If anyone has a wide LCD and cand test a Voodoo2 on it please let me know the results.

Could it be that the settings are getting messed up when going beyond lower Resolutions ?

In detail, I'd have a look at the Gamma Settings and see if modifying/changing them in-game (if possible) might fix that.

On a 19" wide LCD, it seems ok in all resolution, oh well, I guess they don't test LCD with voodoo2 anymore  :'(

I'll try to test when I have some spare time this week on mine.
