I could not resist. I had to see the listing now. There was just too much controversy surrounding this item.

A link would have saved me some trouble but hey now you guys really got me wondering.

I jumped on ebay and did a worldwide search on "completed items" and searched for "3dfx 5000"

I got 2 hits both from the same seller, titled the same.

"Amiga 3dfx Voodoo5 5000 PCI"

Both within about a week of each other. One of them is clearly a Voodoo3 and this was in the Q & A section:

Honestly, I am hoping the best for TM30's sake.

I know for a fact that if I would have seen that auction with a BIN option at that price I would have jumped on it first, then ask questions later. I remember once there were "3 available" in a auction for a V5 5500 AGP. I refreshed the screen and it was down to 2... I was trying to bid as fast as I could (wasn't logged in) by the time I got my password in they are gone. The BIN price was $9.95 USD

Hoping for the best for you TM30.

But even if if does turn out to be a 5500 PCI, there is still some money to be made on it if you care to take the time to re-list it.

i still don't see why tm30 should be upset in anycase.
if you choose to post this topic online,
then don't always hope for favorable replies as feedback.

its just opinions as members of the forum.
we indeed hope that the card you won is actually a 5000.

but through experience as gamma and gary has mentioned, things may not turn out the way as advertised. Especially when the price is too good to be true, one can only be suspecious. At least expect the worst case scenario so that you will not be dissapointed.

I've personally corrected many people, on listing errors simply not to mislead potential buyers.

In anycase, hope you don't misunderstand.

Reply #69 - 17.05.05 at 19:22:15 As I stated in my private e-mail, most sellers can't tell a 3dfx card from a hole in the ground. You will find out one way or another when the card comes in, but by the time the STB logo Voodoo II's were being made (2000) everyone had stopped making 8MB V2 cards for some time.
