I have the next doubt, I would like to know if the 3Dfx Velocity 200 was also known as the  Voodoo3 1000? Are they  the same cards?   ???

nope. The velocity series cards had one TMU disabled, making them different from a V3, almost like a Banshee.

Hm, but since it was only disabled in the Driver, I'd say it's a full Voodoo3 Core...

(at least haven't heard anything else about it, after installing a Voodoo3 Driver and adding the Reg Tweak, it behaves just like a Voodoo3 AFAIK)

Yup, Falcon is correct, velocity can be 'tweaked' to make it behave like a Voodoo 3! :D

I would not be surprised, if those (Hardware) are actually the same (V3-1000 = Velocity 200).

IMHO :

Since 3dfx wanted to get into the high-volume low-cost OEM Market at that time, I think they needed a cheap card for it rather quick.
Yet, they didn't have the development/production capacities to open a dedicated line of OEM Cards.

Hence, they opted to castrate an exiting Voodoo3 design by simply disabling the 2nd TMU in the Driver (quick & dirty solution), and call it an OEM Card. Leaving away half of the Memory chips (for the 8MB Velocity 100) was also a quick and easy solution; both ways never forced them to make significant changes to their production lines.

PS.
But since the Bios Sticker is on there, I'd say those are both (officially) Voodoo3-1000.

In the end, it might be a simple naming convention thingy :
V3-1000 = OEM Market (e.g. for Dell)
Velocity = OEM or Retail Market, but then cheap bulk versions only (unless anyone has ever seen a Retail Box for a Velocity)

But in the end, both = the same Cards possibly

Just my theory (pending new/different Information), but at least it would make sense.

Probing the Hardware capabilities (e.g. RAMDAC clock) and comparing the PCB with the Voodoo3 SGRAM might be the only way to find differences (if any)

Last Idea I got :
Go to 3dfxgamers.com or 3dfx.com on archive.org, and see what product Announcements they did.
Those might also be found on other, old Stock/Shares Market info Websites maybe...

I've seen velocity boxes, they've got STB in big letters, I'll find the pics again later, or if anyone cares to go digging, I think I saw them on 3dfxzone.it, probably belonging to Obi-Wan. Does anyone have one of these cards that they keep around simply for toying with, not using, that they would be willing to flash with a V3 1k BIOS? I'm curious if it would all come out the same.

I don't know, but perhaps my card is an 3Dfx Velocity 200 and Nigel's Card is an Voodoo3 1000... Likely the difference between those cards was type memory!
