I am curious to learn about what people know of 3dfx technology in nVidia's hardware made after 2000.

For example, I have a Galaxy KFA² GeForce 8800 GT.

On the backside bottom of the box the TRADEMARK INFORMATION reads:

I have never seen 3dfx be noted on a nvidia box before

I figured that at least one nVidia box would have some 3Dfx copyright stuff on it, since most of the Voodoo 5 tech ended up in the GeForce line of GFX cards... ::)

If you don't claim IP over a period of time it can fall into disuse and a shrewed company can lay claim to it.

If I'm not mistaken, nVidia bought the remainings of 3DFX and 2 generations later, they desided that they would make a "tribute" to 3DFX, by naming their next generation of videocards, Not Geforce5, but Geforce FX and then the number of the model, like so:

Geforce2 GTS
Geforce3 Ti200
Geforce4 Ti4200
Geforce FX5700

kind of ironic,as the fx series were the probably the worst series of cards nvidia ever made.

yeah I know, but it was the 1st generation from nVidia that actually made use of some of the tech they bought off of 3DFX, sooo...

And they had stiff competition, the FX5950 Ultra had to go up against the almighty 9800Pro/XT, so....
