Post by Obi-Wan_Kenobi on 07.08.05 at 21:13:52
Does anyone know if there also was a laptop with onboard V3? It's something we haven't thought about yet really, so I thought about it, and yeah it could of been possible that even this could of been in thier minds.

If anyone knows about this or has nice info about it, feel free to post.

May The Force Be With you,

friendly regards,

i don't think voodoo3 laptops had a sense, because of the thermal heating of this chip.

Long time ago I asked this in the 3dfx topic @ Gathering of Tweakers. I thought it was part 6.

The anwsers I got we're : No, a laptop with onboard 3dfx doens't exist.

Well, unless there's some unknown prototype we don't know of it's more likely there are no notebooks with 3dfx graphics.

I also never heard of any Laptop with 3dfx inside.

I guess 3dfx went into the lucrative OEM- and integrated markets extremely late and with indecisive effort, concentrating on their core business instead (provide best gaming Hardware for Desktop Gamers)

As far as I know the Daytona ran pretty cool. Such chips would have been suitable for mobile computers such as notebooks.
De Rampage chip would have been suitable too. The Rampage chip would have performed good enough with lower clockfrequencies. (And of course lower power consumption)

If 3dfx survived they would have had a mobile chip by now. Notebooks are pretty popular for over a couple of years.
My feeling says 3dfx would have had a mobile chip around 2002 ;).
But that's all guessing  ::)
